The Arba’een walk is not merely a geographical movement; it is a historic one as well. It is a progress from the past toward the future. What makes this journey a profoundly meaningful one is the evolution which has occurred in Muslims’ vision and insight due to the Arba’een walk. There is no doubt that the Islamic Revolution of Iran has made a major contribution to this evolution. Not only has the Islamic Revolution itself risen out of such insight and vision, but it has in fact produced a new generation in the last forty years that have in fact enhanced that vision and insight. Hence, “martyrdom”, a roaring red river boiling out of the springs of Ashura, evolved from “static” into “dynamic”, thus giving Muslims even greater dignity and power.
